Winery Chateau des Landes Chateau des Lande Estate Château des Landes was created in 1952 by Paul Lassagne, Nicolas' grandfather. He started with only 2 hectares and grew to 7 hectares in 1979. His son, Daniel, came along and bought more vineyards surrounding the cellar and he managed to grow to 27 hectares in almost 20 years. In 2001, Nicolas, came aboard and decided to continue on the family tradition bringing his expertise and his knowledge. Nicolas is now in charge of the Estate and he manage hecatres of vineyards 68 hectares. Chateau de Landes Vineyard hectares 68 acres of vineyard with a density of 5,500 vineplants per hecatres 2,217 vineplants per acre. The average age of the vine is 30 years. Didier Miqueu et Stephan von Neipperg, du château Soleil, produisent ce vin depuis 2007, quand ils ont racheté les vignes sans chai du château le Rival qui couvre une vingtaine d'hectares sur le plateau argilo-calcaire de Lussac-Saint-Émilion. Seules deux parcelles servent à l'élaboration de cette cuvée, les deux plus vieilles, plantées il y a plus de 50 ans et où le merlot domine largement les débats, avec un peu de cabernet franc à ses côtés. Les vinifications sont douces et se concluent par 18 à 24 mois d'élevage, avec 50 à 80% de bois neuf, selon la qualité du millésime. Il en résulte un Lussac typé par le merlot, avec de beaux arômes de fruits rouges, les épices du cabernet franc et, avec le temps, des notes de réglisse, de cuir, de sous-bois et même grillées. A boire dans les 5 à 15 ans selon le millésime et votre cave.
